喂?AI (Wei? AI) — AI Call Screening for Greater China
An AI-powered call-screening app for iOS and Android, built for the Greater China market—multi-turn AI dialogue, live transfer, and 113-language speech recognition.
Overview
喂? is how you answer the phone in Mandarin — "Hello?". 喂?AI answers it for you.
It's an AI-powered call-screening app for iOS and Android, built specifically for the Greater China market. Apple shipped system-level Call Screening in iOS 26, but it's English-only — which leaves the entire Mandarin- and Cantonese-speaking world without a real defense against the spam and scam calls that flood the region every day. 喂?AI is built to close exactly that gap.
Approach
Rather than a dumb "press 1 to continue" gate, 喂?AI screens a call with a multi-turn AI agent that can actually hold a conversation with the caller — understand why they're calling, decide whether it matters, and then either summarize it for you or live-transfer the call if it's something you'd want to take.
- Multi-turn AI dialogue — the agent converses, not just records
- Live transfer — hand a genuine call through to you in real time
- 113-language ASR — speech recognition across 113 languages via Qwen3.6-Omni / Gemini 3.1 Flash Live, with Mandarin and Cantonese as first-class citizens
Product work
This is as much a product exercise as an engineering one. The project has a complete PRD covering system architecture, cost analysis, competitive landscape, a pricing model, and a risk register — the groundwork for taking a consumer voice-AI product to a specific, underserved market.
Stack
- iOS: Swift + SwiftUI
- Android: Kotlin + Jetpack Compose
- Backend: FastAPI on Python 3.12
- Voice & infra: Twilio Voice, Supabase, Upstash Redis
Status
Currently at the POC → MVP stage: the PRD is complete and the proof-of-concept is built; the MVP is in active development.
